LIBRARY LOOKOUT PDF Print E-mail
OK everybody; this summer is shaping up to be all kinds of fun at the library in Buckhorn and at our Branch in Cavendish.

LIBRARY LOOKOUT

The TD Summer Reading Program for children begins July 1st and runs through August. We are fortunate this year to Have Kirby Hughes running the program.  She is enthusiastic, imaginative and looking forward to working with our young people.  Many of our patrons may already know Kirby as she has been working and volunteering at the library since last summer.  Kirby has interesting activities planned for each week of the program.

In this years program “Jungle Journeys for Young Readers”, young people borrow books from the library and keep a record of what they read.  There are prizes for everyone no matter what their reading level.  At the end of the program there will be a Pizza Party for every participant.  This is a door to learning program that encourages youngsters to read, no pressure to perform, simply enjoy the marvelous world of books.

Kirby also runs a story hour in the children’s room at the Buckhorn Library on Saturdays at 1:00pm.  No registration is required, just show up, sit in and enjoy.

Look out!  Keep your eyes peeled!  Famous characters may be appearing in the area.  Thus far it looks as though author Jane Austen, along with Dorothy and Toto and Alice of Wonderland fame will be appearing from time to time in and around town.  Period correct costumes and characters will make appearances in a library awareness campaign developed by the staff at the Galway-Cavendish & Harvey Public Library in Buckhorn

.
